What this notice covers

This notice covers the public website at rigpi.net. It does not make the RigPi project the operator of a privately owned RigPi station. A RigPi Station Server runs on the owner’s Raspberry Pi, and its accounts, logbooks, settings, radio activity and local audio are controlled by that station owner.

If you use somebody else’s RigPi station, ask that station’s owner how the station is administered and which optional services are enabled.

Information the website receives

The website may receive limited information in three ways:

  • Like most websites, the web host may keep ordinary server logs, including an IP address, browser or device information, requested page, date and time, and referring page. These logs help deliver, secure and troubleshoot the site.
  • RigPi download links keep aggregate request counts for each file. The RigPi counter does not store an IP address, user agent or other identifier with those counts. Counts indicate requests, not verified completed downloads.
  • If you send email, we receive the address, message and any other information you choose to include.

Cookies and analytics

RigPi.net does not currently set cookies for advertising or analytics, and it does not use third-party behavioral analytics. The site has no public account system or contact form. If that changes, this notice will be updated.

How information is used and shared

Limited website information is used to operate and protect the site, understand aggregate download interest, diagnose problems and respond to messages. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

Information may be handled by service providers needed to host the website, deliver files or provide email, and may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect the site and its users.

Downloads and outside services

Some downloads are delivered by Backblaze B2. Links may also take you to GitHub, support resources or other independent websites. Those services receive information normally sent by your browser and operate under their own privacy policies.

RigPi software can optionally connect to services such as QRZ, Cloudflare, ZeroTier and the RigPi Elmer Service. These connections are made from the station owner’s RigPi or browser when the owner enables or uses them. The applicable service settings and privacy terms govern those connections.

Retention and security

Hosting logs are retained according to the web host’s operational settings and normal log rotation. Aggregate download counts may be kept for historical reporting. Email is retained only as long as reasonably useful for support, project records or legal needs.

Reasonable safeguards are used, but no website or email system can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

You can use the public website without creating an account. You may contact the RigPi team to ask about personal information contained in correspondence or to request its correction or deletion, subject to applicable legal and recordkeeping requirements.

For information stored on a particular RigPi station, contact that station’s owner or administrator.

Children

The public site is intended for a general amateur-radio audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website.

Changes and contact

This notice may be revised when the website or its services change. The date at the top will show the latest revision.
